Arcmap for mac windows 10#
Note: This test was conducted within Windows 10 using Visual Studio Code and Python 2.7. It only took about 76 seconds for the script to complete and for all 15 million records to be copied into the same CSV file! This combined CSV is so massive that it takes more than 1 GB of memory to open the file and to keep it open. You can find the dataset that I used for this test here: Taxi Dataset. I decided to see how fast it would take my computer to combine about 15 million records spread across 10,358 text files into one CSV file. Although as I’ll soon show you, this computer sure doesn’t feel much at all like a “restrictive computing environment”. I like the challenge of working in a more limited environment, because you have to be more creative in coming up with simple yet effective and fast solutions. One of the reasons I got this Macbook Air (besides just being a big fan of Apple’s products) is that I am particularly interested in restricted computing environments, such as in many local governments in the United States. I also recommend having at least 8 GB of RAM so ArcMap documents don’t crash on you because you don’t have enough memory available. I recommend having at least a 256 GB hard drive so you have enough room to run Windows 10 on a separate partition with Bootcamp. Even if the model is from 2017, Apple still lists it as being a 2015 model within “About this Mac” Example of what my MacBook Air looks likeĭo I suggest this setup for everyone? No, but I think the vast majority of people who want to use ArcMap on their MacBook Air will do fine. Note: The 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 model is from both 20 and have the same exact hardware specifications. The hardware specifications for my MacBook Air. I can have 10 Safari tabs open, play a YouTube music video in the background, have OneNote and a couple of Word documents open, and still be able to edit and export a 4K video in iMovie without any visible slowdowns.
It’s pretty amazing how well Apple has optimized their software for their computers, color me impressed.
Arcmap for mac 1080p#
I’ve read that you can edit 1080P videos directly and 4K videos with proxies within Final Cut Pro. Apparently, even with just a MacBook Air, Final Cut Pro works well. I plan on utilizing Final Cut Pro X at some point too.
I mostly do 2D work and some geoprocessing and data transformation, along with some photo and video editing using iMovie of 4K drone videos that I have captured. I am also using ArcGIS Desktop/ArcMap and not ArcGIS Pro, with no future plans of using Pro.
You betcha! But let me qualify this by saying that I have no real plans of doing intensive 3D work, massive amounts of processing (just some occasional processing and data manipulation using ArcPy, nothing that I foresee that would take more than a few minutes of processing time) or manipulation of large point clouds on this computer.
